Surgery Panel

The Surgery Panel will provide students with the opportunity to learn about a variety of surgical specialties directly from practicing physicians. The goal is to bring together surgeons from different fields to discuss their paths into surgery, what their specialties look like in practice, residency and career considerations, and advice for medical students interested in pursuing surgical careers.
We are hoping to invite many of the same physicians who participated previously, including Dr. Slater (Urology), Dr. Mortenson (General Surgery), Dr. Kluge (ENT/Otolaryngology), Dr. Ploplys (Plastic Surgery), and Dr. Koudomas (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery). We are also considering adding an orthopedic surgeon who is a DO (Dr. Todd Cameron) to provide additional specialty representation and an osteopathic perspective on pursuing a surgical residency.

The panel will include a moderated discussion followed by an opportunity for students to ask questions about surgical training, mentorship, residency preparation, work-life considerations, and the day-to-day experiences within each specialty.
